Position Summary:
OVERVIEW
The position will serve as Master Data Steward for all data managed and utilized by the account. The individual is required to have extensive experience in data management, data query tools, management report development as well as knowledge in corporate real estate operations and technology.
The Master Data Steward is expected to carry data related initiatives forward independently and help accelerate the execution of the account’s Data Governance plans. The position will report to the account’s Head of Global Governance and liaise closely with the Technology Team Leads and Data Stewards within each of the service lines in order to integrate and enhance data governance processes. The position is to effectively document and maintain the data used by various functions in the account in addition to improve the quality and availability of the data.
As Master Data Steward, the position is expected to develop thorough understanding of the business processes in each of the service lines, technology systems used by the teams as well as the data flowing through systems and repositories. The position also needs to be familiar with data used by standard and bespoke reports/dashboards and be prepared to strategically expand the scope of data in order to support data requirements for advanced analytics.
The Master Data Steward will assist the account’s Head of Global Governance to efficiently implement governance processes for data management, technology changes and business operations. Governance process implementation will include, but not limited to, automating existing manual data conditioning/consolidation procedures, creating reference data, capturing/publishing technical/business metadata, assessing data quality and remediating data issues.
As true subject matter expert of the overall data used by all service lines and functions of the account, the position will act as primary data advisor when data is required for management reporting or analytics. The position will assume data management responsibilities currently performed by the technology team which will allowing the team to focus on technology deliverables. The position will also assume metadata management responsibilities currently performed by the Business Intelligence team, enabling the team to concentrate on dashboard and analytics deliverables.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- At least 15 years of professional experience is essential, 10 of which must be hands-on data management experience
- Extensive experience working with databases and using data query and/or ETL tools
- Extensive experience in identifying data quality issues, cleansing data and creating remediation plans
- Extensive experience in working with technology development teams in determining data control requirements for applications
- Extensive experience in working with DBA’s on data structure design
- Direct experience in management reporting and dashboard creation
- Experience, hands-on or through managing a team, as data supplier/provider to data consumers
- Experience in managing technical and/or business metadata
- Familiar with Data Governance concepts and methodology
- Familiar with corporate real estate operation for property, transaction and project manage
- Knowledge of data and systems utilized by facilities management, lease administration, construction projects, MAC projects, CRE expenses, space planning, and occupancy tracking
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related technology field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Good communication skills, specifically in interpreting business needs to technical requirements and translating technical requirements to business values
- Ability to carry tasks forward with minimum supervision
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders at various senior and junior levels in order to gather required information
- Good influencing skills to assist with expanding the data governance program by conveying benefits of well-governed data
- Ability to learn and become proficient quickly with new tools
- Ability to create strategic solutions while satisfying tactical needs
- Ability to change priorities with minimum notice when required
REPORTING LINE
- The Master Data Steward reports to the Head of Global Governance of the account.
- The Master Data Steward will liaise closely with Data Stewards of each business lines but will not be managing these individuals with stewardship as their partial responsibilities.
