Role Mission

 

The New York Fifth Avenue Men's Department/Area Manager has the critical role of managing a department within the boutique, assisting management with leading and directing all activities required to achieve store business objectives. This includes, but is not limited to, client development and experience, human resources management, operations, loss prevention, and maintaining Gucci visual standards while driving employee engagement. The Department/Area Manager will serve as a “Gucci Ambassador” by promoting the philosophy and values of the brand.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Business Leader

  • Work with management to lead the sales and operations functions for designated product categories within the store to consistently achieve sales budget objectives;
  • Manage and support stock levels through direct communication with merchandising team to maximize full price selling, maintaining a high sell through as well as alignment with new product launches;
  • Demonstrate sales leadership by playing an active role on the sales floor through client engagement with brand top clients and ensuring highest level of customer service is provided and annual mystery shop goals are met;
  • Train and communicate current collection knowledge to all associates to ensure the team is fully educated on brand pillars and season strategy by partnering with the management team; 
  • Clear understanding of company set KPI’s and ability to identify and implement strategize when performance standards are not met;
  • Model behaviors that support and align with all company’s set objectives, with an ability to strategize based on business needs;
  • Implement action plans, previously agreed upon with management, to develop sales for a designated product category and client segment;
  • Work with management to implement clear objectives to the store team and monitor individual productivity, cross selling, and client development;
  • Proactively follow current fashion trends, industry news, technology, and key competitors in the market;
  • Model Gucci image through appropriate wardrobe and presence.

 

Client Development

  • Lead the team in establishing relationships and proposing local events through continuous local networking and supporting product launches to ensure a high client attendance and strong sales results;
  • Develop and implement business action plans, in collaboration with the store management team to enhance sales for designated product category with a focus on client retention and new client acquisition;
  • Ensure the implementation and development of company CRM initiatives and provide action plans to the team to drive this execution;
  • Lead the team on providing superior customer service and after sales experience in order to increase and retain customer loyalty;
  • Capture meaningful customer data for the purpose of building relationships and personalizing future client development opportunities;
  • Monitor monthly CRM database reporting.

 Operations

  • Maintain thorough understanding and enforce all policies and procedures, ensuring team adherence to all company operating, human resources and security procedures;
  • Recap monthly department performance in End of Month (EOM) format, reporting current business trends to cover every aspect of the department as well as competitor-related performance;
  • Comply with all loss prevention monthly cycle counts and incident reporting to ensure annual inventory shrinkage is below company target;
  • Support and maintain visual merchandising standards set by worldwide headquarters;
  • Maintain full organization of designated product categories per the back of house (BOH) and front of house (FOH) guidelines provided by headquarters.

 Talent Management

  • Partner with management to assist in monthly coaching/counseling sessions with associates to review performance and provide timely feedback;
  • Oversee annual performance appraisal process for all direct reports;
  • Assist management in maintaining and submitting accurate monthly schedules by analyzing peak hours to ensure adequate store coverage;
  • Work with management to attract, recruit, and retain a high performing team; building a talent pipeline through networking and competitive shopping;
  • Ensure a consistent and branded onboarding experience for all new employees and continuous ongoing training;
  • Ensure human resources processes are adhered to in collaboration with the corporate human resources team;
  • Facilitate training in collaboration with the corporate training team on new product launches and new brand initiatives;
  • Promotes a positive and professional team environment that fosters trust, integrity and superior performance standards, leading by example.

 

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of sales management experience in retail, luxury retail, or service-related industry;
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred;
  • Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills;
  • Proven ability to drive positive customer experiences that build loyalty and deliver measurable results;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment;
  • Proven ability to network, recruit, train, develop and assess talent;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook;
  • Commercial awareness and strong business acumen;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills;
  • Passion for the Fashion Industry;
  • Flexibility to work a retail schedule which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
