OVERVIEW Newly created career opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team supporting a premier financial client in NYC. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position will provide leadership of the onsite engineering teams including commercial office and critical data center environments. The Engineering Manager will have significant interaction with technicians, engineers, facility managers, subcontractors and client staff to meet annual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and agreed facilities service levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary responsibility is to provide leadership and direction for the efficient operations and maintenance of all facility electrical, mechanical, structural, and life safety. The specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to Employee Management and Development, customer satisfaction, staff productivity and efficiency as directed by Director of Engineering
Point of Contact for engineering and data center client team
Preparation of detailed budgets for engineering operations.
Provides contract compliance management and quality control
Provides oversight of staff, with input on selection, counseling, appraisals and recognition; recommending salary, promotional, disciplinary, termination, and other personnel actions.
Oversees training and support aimed at expanding the capabilities of the operations and maintenance staff.
Develop and deliver training methods, materials and programs relative to building operating standards.
Understands the engineering design and operational aspects of building systems and equipment.
Manage operations, maintenance and capital improvements of all Life Safety, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Security and Elevator systems.
Evaluate in conjunction with Regional Engineering Manager and System Owners the existing preventive maintenance scheduling intervals and work to maintain, update and improve the operational efficiency of the CMMS system.
Analyze equipment downtime ramification and develops Emergency Response Action Plans (ERAP) in the event of equipment failure.
Coordinate activities of vendors and contractors
Help Maintain client relationship and conflict resolution
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BA/BS in in Engineering, related discipline or equivalent facilities engineering experience.
5+ years of facilities engineering experience with responsibility for leading teams and maximizing productivity in large commercial office buildings or multiple sites.
Extensive electrical, mechanical and plumbing knowledge of commercial facilities along with a strong background in critical data center operations including emergency stand-by generators, automatic transfer switches, un-interruptible power supply (UPS) systems, power distribution systems, UPS batteries, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Proven ability to develop strategies, recommend and execute creative solutions and plan for contingencies.
Technically proficient in operations of Building Management Systems (BMS), Fire Life Safety Systems, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated leadership, people management, and client relationship skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
HOURS
This position is on call 24/7 for escalation of call tree and maybe called into facility depending severity of onsite issues.
There are about approximately 17 scheduled building maintenance shutdowns annually. which requires this position to provide on-site support.
