Position Summary:

EHS SPECIALIST: Corporate Solutions (Project and Development Services) 
 
OVERVIEW
In this role, the EHS Specialist will be an integral member of the Project Management function providing services to a major financial client.  The EHS Specialist will provide leadership in the development and implementation of asbestos and lead compliance programs across all project types in their assigned territory.  The position will also include support of EHS activities outside asbestos and lead compliance as needs arise.  The position requires an individual who can pro-actively manage multiple assignments and demonstrates the highest level of professionalism with a commitment to achieving the goal of 100% compliance assurance.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Team and interact with multiple stakeholders to assure EHS activities are coordinated and executed per project deadlines
  • Provide technical review of scope of works/ specifications for asbestos abatement on “major” and “minor” projects.
  • Review proposals to ensure they contain the required information as outlined in scope of work documents.
  • Coordinate vendor activity to identify scope of asbestos surveys based on project scope of work and assure appropriate coordination of associated remediation activity
  • Review and evaluate all environmental reports (including lab results) to determine appropriate measures and resolve issues as they pertain to findings, report quality, vendor service quality,  and/or vendor conclusions
  • Maintain database for all asbestos activities including records of all building surveys, material sampling, training, abatement activities, air monitoring, and negative exposure assessments.
  • Ensure required records are available according regulatory, client and JLL requirements.
  • Review and/or ensure all appropriate state/jurisdictional notification requirements
  • Evaluate hazards with respect to project scope and investigate asbestos issues due to contractor or occupant activities.
  • Ensure activities related to the management of hazardous wastes are compliant.
  • Ensure EHS policies and procedures are developed, updated, implemented, and followed.
  • Periodically monitor activities at asbestos abatement job sites for compliance to applicable regulations.
  • Address asbestos related inquiries from regulatory agencies
  • Review and approve proposals and invoices for processing and payment
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related subject.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in EHS with asbestos-related oversight responsibilities.
  • Asbestos inspector training (preferable) or associated asbestos-related training.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of codes and compliance requirements associated with asbestos.
  • Success working with contractors on remediation-related projects.
  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication.
  • Basic computer skills with both word processing and database applications.
