Job Overview:
 
The Director of Quality position reports to the Vice President of Process Management and is responsible for driving Lean/Six Sigma strategic improvements and innovative change throughout the organization.   Black Belts partner with business and operations leaders to define and prioritize opportunities as well as lead major initiatives related to design and implementation of innovative process and technology changes within Macy’s.  Drive positive results for key business goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
 
Essential Functions:
 
• Develop area/organization continuous improvement strategies that support the overall Macy’s Six Sigma business strategy.
• Management and execution of improvement plans that support the strategy
• Lead project teams for major initiatives
• Lead various activities and projects in the utilization of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
• Facilitate the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools throughout the organization
• Teach basic Lean and Six Sigma tools
• Serve as a resource for Six Sigma analysis
• Other Responsibilities
• Develop materials and provide updates to Sr. Management on project implementation status and results
• Facilitate project harvesting / prioritizing for various organizations and areas
• Conduct Kaizen events throughout the organization
• Serve as in house “consultant” for quality tools
 
 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Experience:
 
• Bachelor’s Degree and extensive experience in project management
 
Communication Skills:
 
• Ability to read, write and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 
Reasoning Ability:
 
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. 
• Sound decision making and can adapt to changing priorities
 
Physical Demands:
 
• This position may involve stooping, kneeling, climbing, crouching and lifting up to 25 lbs., as well as regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking.
• Requires ability to distinguish color, involves close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
 
Other Skills:
 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodology and tools
• Ability to learn Macy’s systems
• Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes applications
• Work independently and within a team.
• Six Sigma Certification a plus (GB, BB, MBB)
 
Work Hours:
 
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
• Travel as needed, up to 50% may be required, depending on the nature of the project assigned
