Based in Secaucus, New Jersey, the Vice President of Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry reports to the Vice President of Wholesale and Franchising, based in Switzerland. You will lead a team of sales and marketing professionals, with a strong focus on sales development in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. You will be directly responsible for the progress of the organizational goals, including financial performance and controls, business plans and marketing initiatives.
The Vice President, Americas will work in close partnership with the Gucci America management and teams, share strategy and initiatives to approach and manage common customers, and ensure that the brand creative vision and image are implemented within the distribution network.
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that sales and financial objectives are met while protecting and managing the integrity of the Gucci brand image/asset.
Key Skills and Responsibilities
Sales/Distribution
Manage the national sale force ensuring all company goals are met, including sales targets, distribution policies, merchandising execution, brand image.
Evolving and developing markets, elevating the brand position, presentation level and retail staff selling skills at the wholesale level.
Business Analysis
Detailed analysis of business including margins, customers, products, pricing structures, viability of business decisions.
Reporting to Switzerland on business achievements, as well as all expenditures.
Responsible for the effective management and control of cash and bank accounts to ensure efficient use of working capital.
Customers / Suppliers
Review supplier contracts and trading and special terms regularly to ensure the most efficient and cost effective services are being provided for the division.
Maintain and grow relationships with established clients, as well as develop and nurture new clients through seasonal salon showings in conjunction with the merchandising team.
Marketing
Implement marketing and communication plans to launch product and drive sell in and sell out.
Brand management controls, implementing Gucci merchandising guidelines in terms of displays, and marketing /PR initiatives.
Initiate and assist brand building retailer programs.
Human Resources
Direct responsibility for staff including but not limited to, recruitment, development, performance management, team culture, performance management.
Inventory & Warehousing
Manage the effective operations of inventory and warehousing.
Ensure that the proper internal control procedures are being adhered to for the movement of watch and jewelry and spare parts stock through the business.
Key Requirements
Experience
High potential business leader with strong commercial background, excellent leadership ability and experience in managing and motivating sales teams.
Strong and proven commercial background with experience in retail and business to business selling (Wholesale channel).
Open mind to understand the Gucci fashion world and the new corporate strategy and vision.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to easily build meaningful rapport and strong relationships.
Previous experience in the luxury sector and especially watches and jewellery is preferred and would be highly advantageous.
High levels of financial and commercial acumen including experience in driving revenue and profit growth.
Qualifications in marketing would be advantageous.
Job scope
50 staff including Sales (Regional Sales Managers, Account Executives, National Account Sales Manager), Budgeting & Controlling, Marketing & PR, Planning & Operations, Customer Service & ASS, Warehouse.
Oversees one Sales Director for Canada (based in Toronto) and one for LATAM & Caribbean (based in Miami), as well as direct reports in the regions.
Multiple wholesale points-of-sale over the territory including national accounts, department stores, independent retailers.
Global responsibility over timepieces and jewelry business. Each category to be promoted evenly in the sales channels.
