Position Summary:

JLL is currently seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team on a premier financial client in NYC.
 
OVERVIEW
JLL provides operational Business Intelligence (“BI”) to the client across all real estate functional areas and all global regions.  The Analyst will develop and maintain BI dashboards and reports to enhance the client’s situational awareness and executive decision support.  As needed, the Analyst may perform business analyses of the client’s real estate portfolio activity, such as transactions, capital projects, operations, and related financial data, as well as assess data quality and IT/data infrastructure and performance.
 
The position provides exposure to data and processes relating to a broad range of real estate operations, including facility management, building operations, transaction management, project management and portfolio planning.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Principal Task: Build dashboards and reports, using tools such as Tableau and Microsoft BI stack, that integrate data from across the account (and outside the account) to provide superior business and operational insights to the client and to JLL staff
  • Maintain & enhance existing dashboards and reports to respond to changing client needs, software updates, underlying data, etc.
  • Consult actively with a range of client staff to better understand their needs for dashboard and other reports
  • Analyze available data to assess completeness, integrity, quality, etc. in order to improve quality of reporting
  • Develop data queries in SQL Server and other programming languages to feed dashboards & reports
  • Develop programming / script in other languages (Python, R, etc.) to execute and automate data preparation, ad hoc analysis, etc.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop technical skills, improve SQL queries, enhance script/ programming skills, etc.
  • Work with client & JLL staff to assess and import new data sets (JLL, client or external) in a structured process
  • Manage security & access control tools for dashboards; develop ability to manage this across all dashboards
  • Collaborate with staff managing data warehouse to maximize effectiveness of DW and efficiency of dashboards
  • Learn & observe team processes governing dashboard development, data access & integrity, documentation, etc.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 
  • Bachelor’s degree with a quantitative focus (Statistics, Finance, Engineering, Scientific, IT, or related).
  • Master’s degree, beneficial (MBA, or MS in Statistics, Applied Math, or other quantitative field)
  • 4 – 6 years of relevant quantitative work experience
  • 1 – 3 years of experience building & developing dashboards using Tableau software
  • Experience with data modeling, financial modeling or predictive analytics
  • Experience with large financial institutions or in consulting environment, beneficial
  • Experience with other data visualization & statistical applications, beneficial (PowerPivot, SAS, Minitab, Qlikview)
  • Experience in working with, building, developing or managing relational databases, beneficial
  • Experience with other languages (Python, R, SAS) beneficial
  • Basic programming experience in SQL required (specific knowledge of TSQL beneficial)
  • Consultative working experience beneficial

  • SharePoint design/ development/ management/ administration experience beneficial
  • Strong quantitative, financial and analytical abilities required
  • Outstanding communications skills required; strong client relationship skills required.
  • Creative problem-solving capabilities required, with ability to drive results & provide relevant solutions to clients
  • Self-starter required, with ability to work independently, manage time responsibly and achieve strategic goals
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office applications required, particularly strong Excel/ analytical skills required.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES

 
  • Number of dashboards developed & put into production; speed of iterative development process
  • Creativity and effectiveness of dashboards & visualizations
  • Quality / efficiency of technical work: programming, queries, etc.
  • Quality, depth & trust of consultative relationships with 1) clients and 2) peers
  • Ability to translate high-level business problems & general requirements into work products that address those needs
  • Ability to clearly articulate stretch goals and then achieve them
