North America Human Resource Business Partner - New York

Nike North America is seeking a Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support the North America territories headquartered in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. In addition to defining the Team & Talent strategy and plan for the territories, this role will partner with and advise the business on territory specific needs while ensuring execution of business, talent and organizational design initiatives. The Territory HRBP will partner with the Territory VP/GMs to build and motivate diverse high-performing teams by developing processes to attract and develop top talent.

 

Accountabilities also include monitoring and elevating engagement and sense of community in the territory offices in partnership with the VP/GMs and cross-functional partners. This includes driving a “one city/territory” team mindset including Nike store employees and identifying territory career paths.  This role reports to the VP HR, North America.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Business partner/coach for VP/GM and territory leadership teams. Create a sense of community with DTC HR Managers located in NYC, Chicago and LA.
  • Play a key leadership role in launching a global key city operating model and organizational structure to drive incremental growth in the integrated marketplace (key accounts, Nike retail stores, .com).  Support/enable global key role pilots in the business, providing a point of view on best practices and recommendations.
  • Lead transition management for office move into new NYHQ office – this will be one of the most high profile, critical offices across Nike globally with a number of key senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with business to drive employee engagement in key city offices. This includes review of the recognition/celebration practices in place and enabling those in the field to feel pride, connection to the brand and the importance of their work. 
  • Partner with functional HRBPs to identify capability and talent gaps in the territories. Create a roadmap to build talent pipeline within the territory to support Diversity and Inclusion across Wholesale, DTC and with external talent.
  • Enable forums/cadence for Territory GM’s to come together to share best practices and create a learning and trusted environment among those that lead the territories.
  • Support and drive key HR/Talent processes: Manager 90 (annual upward feedback process), performance and potential rating calibration as well as strong point of view into performance rewards processes for territory talent. 
  • Develop on-boarding opportunities for those hired in the field to better connect to the culture of Nike and the brand, in addition to the worldwide HQ office.
  • Guide and partner with HR COE partners to create employee-centric solutions for the NA territories. 
  •  

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Behavioral Sciences or related field; master’s degree a plus. 
  • 10 years of experience across all core consultative and administrative areas of HR including Business Partnering, Organizational Capability and Planning, Talent Management, Organization Design, Compensation and Total Rewards.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills across all levels. 
  • Experience in multinational, matrixed organizations. 
  • Experience leading teams.
  • Flexible and adapt to change. 
  • Functional experience with field (non-corporate based) employees.
  • Role will be located in our New York, NY office and require travel to other territories and NAHQ in Beaverton, Oregon (up to 50%).
