Manager, Marketing Strategic Sourcing

Job Overview:
 
The Strategic Procurement team at Macy’s is responsible for collaboratively developing and implementing non-merchandise spend management strategies in support of Macy’s Inc.’s overall corporate strategy and the company’s focus on ongoing profit improvement.  The Strategic Procurement is responsible for sourcing, procurement, vendor diversity, spend analytics, and travel management.  Specifically, the sourcing team’s responsibilities include strategy and scoping, sourcing, negotiation, contracting, implementation, savings tracking, and vendor management.  Evolution of the Strategic Procurement capability is a priority for Macy’s and we continue to seek top talent in support of this objective.
 
Responsible for conducting spend analysis, analyzing supply markets, identifying sourcing value levers, executing competitive RFI’s/RFPs and leading supplier negotiations. Leverages eSourcing technology platforms where appropriate. Develops and executes implementation plans to ensure sourcing benefits are fully realized. Builds and maintains strong relationships with key marketing stakeholders. Supports savings tracking processes and participates in special infrastructure-building projects as needed.

Essential Functions:
 
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
 
• Manages strategic sourcing initiatives, following a 7-step sourcing methodology.
• Provides rigorous analysis of spend data and industry dynamics to prioritize and launch sourcing initiatives.
• Gathers stakeholder and subject-matter expertise/insights and business requirements to ensure sourcing solutions meet business needs.
• Prepares and presents business cases and should-cost models.
• Identifies and pursues process re-engineering, value engineering, and demand management opportunities to increase efficiencies.
• Manages the planning and launch of RFIs and RFPs.
• Performs complex data analysis and build financial models (i.e. ROI, NPV, supplier scorecards, savings tracking, make vs. buy decision models).
• Contributes to negotiation strategy development and negotiation execution.
• Manages supplier selection process and provides data to ensure informed selection decisions.
• Establishes contract terms and conditions and coordinates with legal to execute optimal contracts with suppliers.  Develops qualified, competitive sources of supply on a continuing basis through comprehensive financial and market review.
• Assists in managing supplier relationships, tracking supplier performance, and communicating performance feedback to suppliers.
• Develops implementation and transition plans and supports change management initiatives.
• Builds relationships with key stakeholders and develops business cases for new spend management opportunities.
• Works closely with operational buyers for the assigned category to ensure consistency in buying strategy.
• Implements and drives procurement strategy, policies and procedures.
• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Experience:
 
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business administration, logistics, finance, engineering or related discipline.
• MBA or Master’s degree a plus.
• CPM, CIRM or CPIM certification a plus
• Knowledge of financial accounting, strategic sourcing, and supplier management concepts.
• Retail / CPG experience preferred.
• Experience sourcing a variety of Marketing categories including following:
o Creative and Media agencies
o Traditional Media (TV, Radio, Newspaper/Magazine)
o Digital Media, Search, Display, Affiliate, and Programmatic
o CRM, Production Services
• Five plus years professional experience in Strategic Sourcing for marketing & advertising categories.
• Experience in a dynamic organization with experience and exposure in advanced sourcing strategies.
 
Communication Skills:
 
• Meeting facilitation and presentation skills.
• Ability to develop relationships with key Business Partners.
 
Reasoning Ability:
 
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity.
 
Other Skills:
 
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment.
• Knowledge of Supplier Management tools (SRM, conducting Quarterly Business Reviews, etc.).
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
• Technology-savvy to leverage eProcurement and eSourcing tools including but not limited to: SAP, Ariba, Spend Analysis tools.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
