Job Overview:
The Strategic Procurement team at Macy’s is responsible for collaboratively developing and implementing non-merchandise spend management strategies in support of Macy’s Inc.’s overall corporate strategy and the company’s focus on ongoing profit improvement.  The Strategic Procurement team is responsible for sourcing, procurement, vendor diversity, spend analytics, and travel management.  Evolution of the Strategic Procurement capability is a priority for Macy’s and we continue to seek top talent in support of this objective.
 
 
Reporting to the Director, the Manager will support the Strategic Procurement teams (Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Operations, and Supplier Diversity), work closely with the SVP, Strategic Procurement to drive corporate initiatives, and build relationships with stakeholders across the business.
 
Essential Functions:
 
  • Develop, deploy, and advance a spend analytics strategy including platform, data integrity, accessibility, dashboarding and reporting, and adoption by Strategic Procurement, Finance, and business teams.
  • Support the development of sourcing, category management, and operational strategies by using data and analytics, process mapping, benchmarking, category research, commodity tracking, stakeholder relationships, and other tools to identify opportunities.
  • Monitor/track/report/analyze financial data to drive opportunities for the Company.  Provide consistent reporting of results and plans to the Strategic Procurement organization, business partners, and Macy’s executives.
  • Analyze and identify savings opportunities from spend analytics, including development of reporting needs from MFA and multiple data sources. Source and analyze data from EP, non-purchase order invoice payments, purchasing card, capital and all internal support systems.
  • Work closely with Technology partners and vendors to implement, maintain, and enhance Strategic Procurement systems including spend analytics, contract management, forecasting and purchasing tools, and procurement data architecture.
  • Develop and track reporting against departmental objectives and results including setting savings goals and tracking savings achieved.
  • Ensure adherence to company policy including sourcing policies, purchasing policies, and contract policies.
  • Manage and maintain Strategic Procurement processes and standards including 7-step sourcing process and documentation, vendor management templates, vendor and channel exception reporting, and operational efficiency metrics.
  • Develop and oversee professional development and training approaches for the Strategic Procurement team and manage external vendors in support of this objective.
  • Bring process mapping and re-engineering expertise to both internal Strategic Procurement processes as well as in support of external-facing Strategic Procurement projects (e.g., best practices, approach, templates).
  • Support governance and program management of the Company’s Fund the Future program and other programmatic efforts to improve the value of indirect spend.
  • Create Executive-level presentations summarizing progress, status and risks
 
 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Experience
 
  • BA/BS Degree, MBA preferred
  • 3-5 years of work experience in Consulting, Strategic Procurement, or related fields, ideally with relevant experience in project management, process re-engineering, and data-driven decision making
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; experience in programming or other software (specifically data platforms like Tableau) a plus
  • Experience with spend analytics and sourcing systems; experience with Ariba sourcing and/or Oracle are a plus
  • Retail experience is a plus
 
Communication Skills
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills (oral, written and listening) for a variety of audiences (senior executives to analysts)
