As a sitewide & mobile copywriter, you will write short sentences, catchy headlines and on-brand communications that will impact the company in a big way. More specifically, you will be responsible for concepting & creating the Macy’s voice for print assets, while partnering with creative counterparts, such as marketing & art. You’ll thrive when playing with words & enjoy the challenge of working on tight deadlines & multi-tasking. You’ll strive to self-lead & grow in responsibility. You’ll be a meticulous self-editor, who will also seek out opportunities to collaborate & reimagine the Macy’s brand. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
• Develop the creative voice for Macy’s, including headlines, subheds & more.
• Engage the team & your work & approach all tasks with an innovative attitude.
• Hold the work we do to a high standard with a desire to do it excellently!
• Write and input edits for all copy on assigned projects.
• Confidently take on a range of projects, including homepages, emails, text messages, branded banner ads and micro-sites.
• Attend presentation meetings, offer creative ideas & become a voice within the division.
• Be detail-oriented with a keen eye for tiny details & an eagerness to keep learning our style.
• Grow the business & in your personal position!
• Be able to strategically take on big challenges while staying positive.
• Strive for accuracy on all projects & quickly react when changes must be made.
• Be a go-getter, aim to meet all deadlines, juggle different deadlines & pitch in to help other teammates.
• Create a self-management system (& have incredible organizational skills) with an all-encompassing knowledge of when projects meet different stages & how we can streamline processes.
• Own your day-to-day work & follow it through to completion.
• Have a take-risks-fail-try-again-succeed-repeat point of view!
• Proofread all of your own projects & partner with others to check for accuracy.
• Learn Macy’s legal & be a knowledgeable go-to for footers, disclaimers, etc.
• Have regular, dependable, punctual attendance.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, advertising, marketing, direct response or promotion (or comparable work experience), and strong conceptual skills with knowledge of how copy relates to art, design, graphics and typography are highly desirable.
• 1-3 years writing/copywriting experience, preferably with a retail focus.
