Pricing plays an important role in the partnership with merchants on price strategies and with Financial Planning on forecasting and margin management. The Pricing Manager will influence and implement national and localized pricing strategies, projecting financial impact and maximizing business opportunities focusing on sales, margin and turnover. The Pricing Manager will partner with the Divisional Merchandise Manager/Buyer and Divisional Planning Manager/Planner to execute clearance markdowns appropriate for their areas of business.
This position is based out of our NYC Corporate Office. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Key Activities:
• Conduct in depth weekly review of the business and perform analysis of regional sales.
• Partner with merchant teams to identify underperforming items or categories and recommended price action.
• Determine optimal, progressive markdown strategies through the end of the each product's life.
• Provide markdown forecasts to buyers.
• Participate in business strategy meetings with the merchants and understand overall goals, budgets, strategies, marketing constraints and key operating parameters.
• Identify risks and opportunities based on product performance.
• Manage markdowns to drive sales and margin.
• Recommend promotional and hardmark pricing across products and zones.
• Review and validate actual sales and gross margin against projections and adjust markdown budget and strategies (partner with Merchant team).
• Identify localized use of Clearance POS to address non-productive inventories.
Key Accountabilities:
• Manage inventory currency.
• Responsible for managing all markdowns to drive sales and gross margin.
• Develop markdown strategies which utilize both permanent and POS markdowns most profitably.
• Partner with the DMM/Buyer to execute markdowns appropriate for their scope of business.
• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree required (Business, Finance, Marketing, or equivalent preferred).
• 2 years retail experience at executive level required.
Communication Skills:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence.
Mathematical Skills:
• Must have excellent mathematical skills.
• Ability to apply concepts of profitability and statistical inference to practical situations.
• Ability to calculate discounts, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Readily grasps numerical concepts and interprets financial information accurately.
• Ability to utilize retail math skills to analyze and drive business.
Reasoning Ability:
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to successfully collaborate with internal and external partners.
• Ability to independently organize and prioritize broad workload to meet deadlines in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands:
• This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and the office equipment.
• May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Other Skills:
• Must be strong in Excel with knowledge/ability to manage and interpret large amount of data in spreadsheets, utilizing formulas and tools (i.e. Pivot tables, macros, etc.).
• Exhibits high standards and accountability; takes pride in accuracy.
• High aptitude; processes information quickly with ability to offer solutions to challenges with strong decision making skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Able to manage across all levels.
